Projectile Motion

Projectile Motion is when a object is travelling through the air or anything in the air. For example, a ball or a javelin being thrown. There are 3 parts to Projectile Motion, and they are the Angle of Release, Height of Release and the Speed of Release. The optimal angle of release is 45 degrees. The higher you are when releasing an object, the longer it will travel. The greater the speed the greater the height and distance will be. When a ball is thrown into the air, there is always a flight path, and that is called trajectory (flight path). The projectile is the object moving in the air, so in a Basketball case, when a shot is done, the basketball is the projectile. The activity we did was shoot paper in the air with rubber bands. We had to figure out what the right amount of paper was (too big = too heavy too small = too light), the amount of power we gave the paper (the further back our rubber band launch was), the angle of where to release it and the distance we stood from the target.

Levers

In a lever there are 3 parts and 3 classes. They are the Fulcrum, Load, Effort, 1st class, 2nd class and 3rd class. For each class there are different examples and different places where each part must go. The fulcrum is the pivot point, the effort is the part of a lever where there is force, and the load is the resistance. Examples for 1st class is a see-saw (the fulcrum is in the middle), 2nd class is a wheelbarrow (the load is in the middle) and 3rd class is our arm (hand = load, muscles = effort, elbow = fulcrum). An example of levers in a sport is Badminton. When hitting a shuttlecock with our racket, the fulcrum is your elbow - this is because your elbow is moving. The effort is our muscles swinging the racket and the load is the racket itself. This is 3rd class, because we are using our arm. The activity we did today was draw out the different parts of a lever, put the load in certain spots on the effort, and figure out where the fulcrum goes. We had to then explain what class each meant and give examples. Here is my activity.

Zumba - R11


  • Explain the physical activity you participated in.
The activity we participated in was Zumba. Zumba is a more of relaxed workout for many people. Music is normally involved with Zumba, this makes it a lot more fun.
  • What level of effort and engagement were you participating at during today’s physical activity? Why? (Grade yourself NA, A or M and refer to marking criteria)
I give myself an achieved because I was organised and prepared for the activity by bringing my gear, I attempted to improve on my skills by doing the moves with enthusiasm, I tried to improve, through practise.
  • What were three factors which influenced your participation? (Choose from the list below, and put a + or - beside the three factors to show whether it positively or negatively influenced your participation).

  • Explain HOW these factors affected your participation (with specific examples)
Fitness affected my participation in a negative because I haven't done Zumba in while. This caused me to be able to only do small movements, which be participate less. If I were to keep my fitness up, my movements would be big and I would be able to do a lot more moves without getting a stitch lol.
Sense of Achievement affected my participation in a positive way because I wasn't wanting to get a Merit for my grade. This made me want to get up and do Zumba confidently.
Previous Experiences affected my participation in a negative way because the was probably my first time doing Zumba - besides Jump Jam. This made me all stiff and small in my actions, making me want to participate less. If I was to know what to do when it comes to Zumba I would enjoy it more and make an effort to participate.
  • How could you increase your (or your peers) participation in this activity in the future? Something I would do to increase my participation is go through some moves before class with my friends to be more confident in an actual class time Zumba.

Badminton - R10


  • Explain the physical activity you participated in.
The activity we played was Badminton. We had 2 players per team and about 5 minutes of playing team before we would rotate.
  • What level of effort and engagement were you participating at during today’s physical activity? Why? (Grade yourself NA, A or M and refer to marking criteria)
I give my a Merit because I worked towards my goal getting a better swing, causing the ball to go straight down, I enhanced the experience of my team mate by letting him get the fast hits because he was better lol, I showed my enjoyment of the game by being cheerful and not being a grump, and I tried my best to win all our games.

Well-being affected my participation in a positive way because I was in a happy mood. This made me cheerful towards the game even when we had lost a point. I think it's good to always have a happy mood in situations so that positive vibes come out. An example of me being a happy chappy was when I missed a perfect hit, but didn't get angry, I was humble to myself and to the other players on court.
Equipment affected my participation because the shuttlecocks we used were either broken, deformed, or very very light. This caused our hit to be inaccurate. An example was when I served the shuttlecock, but a feather was out of place, making it uneven when going through the air, which made it go either out or in unexpectedly. It also would be hit perfectly with the right power, but still not make it over the net.
Friends/Classmates affected my participation in a positive way because they helped me when I was unable to hit the shuttle. An example was when my racket was in my left hand (knowing I'm right-handed) but my team mate knew it was my weak point so he hit the shuttle instead.
  • How could you increase your (or your peers) participation in this activity in the future? Something I would do to increase my participation is by finding my weaknesses in the game such as hitting with both hands properly, and work on towards it so I could gradually become better at it. This will make me confident and increase my participation.

Force Summation

Force Summation is broken up into 3 parts, but the whole thing means adding force together, to make a greater force. What makes Force Summation are 3 sections, these are Range of Motion, Order of Body Segments, and Timing of Body Segments. Range of Motion is the greater the range of motion is applied, the greater the force will be applied. For example, when kicking a ball, the further you leg extends for the kick, the more power is produced for the kick. Order of Body Segments is when we transfer force from our largest muscles to our smaller muscles. An example for this is like in a free throw, we create power (force) from our thighs (biggest muscles), to our trunk, then through our arms, to our fingers for the shot (smaller muscles). Timing of Body Segments is when each segment should be activated, when the before has reached it's peak of force. For example, again for the free throw we come from our feet, to our thighs, to our trunk, to our arms then into our hands/fingers. If all of these weren't in one motion the timing will be off, giving a little bit of force. The activity we did in the gym was on the rowing machine. We went step by step for a full row, going from just using our hands then to using our full bodies. This showed us that the more motion we used it will generate more force, therefore making us move further and longer when we row.
