Spikeball - R2

  • Explain the physical activity you participated in.
Spike Ball is a game where Volleyball and Tchoukball are combined. The purpose of the game is to spike the ball onto a round trampoline and catch it before it touches the ground. If it isn't caught the point goes to your opposition. You 2 players per team, you can pass the ball to your team mate within 3 passes, just like a game of Volleyball.

  • What level of effort and engagement were you participating at during today’s physical activity? Why? (Grade yourself NA, A or M and refer to marking criteria)
I give myself an achieved because the things I did during the game relate to the marking criteria. For example I showed 'Attempting to improve my level of participation' (learning how to pick up the ball with the hockey stick before we started the game), 'Contributing to the team by taking up a role or functional person' (being a guard for our team), 'Demonstrating skills related to the activity' (showing the basics of hockey when hitting the ball), 'Being organised and prepared for the activities' (bringing my gear for Spikeball).

  • What were three factors which influenced your participation? (Choose from the list below, and put a + or - beside the three factors to show whether it positively or negatively influenced your participation).
Friends/Team-mates -, Previous Experiences -, Fun and Enjoyment +
  • Explain HOW these factors affected your participation (with specific examples)
Friends/Team-mates affected my participation in a negative way because they weren't playing the actual game. They were doing their own thing shooting hoops. This affected my participation because I wasn't able to play and learn how to play. An example was when we versed Jayden and Ivan, they were messing around with the ball, shooting hoops instead.
Previous Experiences affected my participation in a negative way because I had no skills in this game what so ever. This affected me because I kept on asking questions to understand more. This wasted my playing time. An example was when we played our first game, but I didn't get to play because, I was too busy asking questions.
Fun and Enjoyment affected my participation in a positive way because it was new, but I accepted to learn how to play. This affected my participation because even though it was hard to latch on it was fun to pick up the rules and how it is played. An example was when we played Charday and Miss Dougherty, we all were learning but it still was a fun game when we played to the rules.
  • How could you increase your (or your peers) participation in this activity in the future?
To increase my participation in Spikeball is to learn how to play the game well, be fit, and also teach other's who don't know how to play, play. This will increase it because I will have at least some skills when playing, which is what I didn't have when playing this game.

Chop Sticks - R1

  • Explain the physical activity you participated in.

Chop Sticks is a game similar to Capture the Flag. Instead of a flag/cone, we had to steal a hockey puck, and without picking up with our hands, we had to use two hockey sticks. To take the puck we had to pick the puck up like chop sticks (with our two hockey sticks) and go to our side of the court, without being tagged by the opponent.

  • What level of effort and engagement were you participating at during today’s physical activity? Why? (Grade yourself NA, A or M and refer to marking criteria)

I give myself a Merit because I did things relating to the marking criteria such as I tried my best when this was a new game, I helped others out when they were stuck on something like how to hold onto the puck, working towards my goal by stealing at least 3 pucks on the other side, and being motivated when I set myself a goal to achieve.

  • What were three factors which influenced your participation? (Choose from the list below, and put a + or - beside the three factors to show whether it positively or negatively influenced your participation).

Competition +, Fun/Enjoyment +, Well-being -

  • Explain HOW these factors affected your participation (with specific examples)
Competition affected my participation in a positive way because the puck wasn't easy to get when attacking, it was challenging, which I like in games. An example of having Competition when I was attacking for the ball, but I got tagged by the opponent.
Fun/Enjoyment affected my participation in a positive way because the game wasn't boring, so it made me want to play. An example of having Fun/Enjoyment was when we laughed throughout the game.
Well-being affected my participation in a negative way because I was tired. I didn't want to play but I made myself play. An example of this was when I let the player get the puck, instead of tagging him.

  • How could you increase your (or your peers) participation in this activity in the future?
To sleep early the night before, so I won't be tired for our practical. This will give a positive affect in my participation because I am wide awake instead of being drowsy and sleepy.
