Ultimate Frisbee - R7

  • Explain the physical activity you participated in.
Today we played Ultimate Frisbee. This game is similar to Turbo Touch but with a Frisbee of course. To score, your team mate pass the frisbee to you in the end zone. You are not allowed to run/walk with the frisbee and walk into the end zone with the frisbee. Intercepts are allowed but if you fail to catch the ball while intercepting, it is still the opponents or your team's ball.

  • What level of effort and engagement were you participating at during today’s physical activity? Why? (Grade yourself NA, A or M and refer to marking criteria)
I give my myself a Merit because I worked hard towards my team's goal which was to beat the other team, I showed enjoyment of intent during the game by not being a winer, I asked Jayden to see how to throw the frisbee towards the wind without it blowing away so I could increase my skill for the game, I tried my best while doing this and I motivated and was reliable to my team mates when they did a bad pass.
  • What were three factors which influenced your participation? (Choose from the list below, and put a + or - beside the three factors to show whether it positively or negatively influenced your participation).
Environment -, Skill Level +, Previous Experiences +
  • Explain HOW these factors affected your participation (with specific examples)
Environment affected my participation in a negative way because it was windy. This caused the frisbee to not go as far as I wanted it to go, by the frisbee doing this and ruined my team's chances to score. Without the frisbee getting to go as far, it made me not want to through it far by closely, which is tricky for me to do due to the way I release it. I am good at long passes though.
Skill Level affected my participation in a positive way because throughout Year 9 & 10 of playing Ultimate Frisbee, I have noticed my strengths and weaknesses and worked on those to become better. By doing this, I was able to show my skill in catching the frisbee for example, or throwing the frisbee.
Previous Experiences affected my participation in a positive way because in Year 10, Ultimate Frisbee was a sport we played all the time. This allowed me to be familiar with the game and play well. Because I was familiar with this game I was able to partake in the game and have fun as I always would do in a game of Ultimate Frisbee.
  • How could you increase your (or your peers) participation in this activity in the future?
Something I would do to increase my participation is learn more skills to widen by chances of scoring and having fun. There's always that one person who is good at the sport, and I'm not that person in Ultimate Frisbee, so I would like to improve on skills and become one of these people. To improve my peers participation, I would encourage them to have a go at the game and give them a lot of chances of play to let them be comfortable.

You have a clear description of the game Autymn, and you have mentioned a couple of main rules. Some feedback for future reflections - you have explained and used examples for your factors, but you are missing HOW the factors affected your participation. So, did they make you want to play more or less and why? I love your reflection of increasing your skills so that you could increase your participation. I am enjoying seeing your posts become more precise, and you are reflecting more!
