Sequences

W.A.L.T: To solve problems in algebra,

This game has taught me to sequence numbers from any order such as decimals, integers and whole l numbers. I found this game easy because all you had to do was click on the circle, but its helpful. I played the easiest level and then went to a higher level. Next I would like to learn how to build patterns constantly.

Dragon on the Loose!

2014-03-04-125112.jpg
Dragon on the loose

We are live in central park reporting to you about a vicious dragon on the loose. There’s no explanation on how it got here, we’re just wondering where it came from. Back to you Paul, live from central park. Well we are having trouble with people running around screaming their lungs out, Paul tries to concentrate on getting information back to the studio. “To get more information I will read description of the dragon, here we go”, says Paul in a frightened way.

His eyes glow with fiery red pupils. People say when you look into the dragons eyes, you go through 4 stages of complete death. To avoid death you have to successfully complete the         stages without, saying ‘this hurts’. Here are the stages:
  • Blindness / 2 days
  • Dehydration / 1 day
  • Pins and Needles on the face / 1 day
  • Itchy rashes everywhere / 1 day

His legs are big, and they have sparkly green scales. His claws look like 5 razor sharp swords, ready to slice, with pointy long toes. His claws can rip up a body within 2 seconds.

The dragons body is nice and slim, his skin shines when he enters the light. He glows when his eyes looks straight into water. Then the most beautiful things happen. He turns into a bright shining water lily, but when he hears people he gets really angry and starts to grow even bigger and stronger, to search for his prey.

The dragon’s wings gather up air and throws it back into the sky, they flutter like 2 fans dripping with blood. They both sway left to right when the dragon lands to visit all the feared people.

People say that he has been around for more than a decade, and everyone knows how he is still alive. People say it has a power that can make you live more than 100 decades, and still he looks like he has the strength of a thousand men.

His mouth is covered with razor sharp teeth and he breathes out fire so hot, it can melt hell! He blows out red smoke, and searches with his is fiery eyes looking for something to devour.

You have now heard all the things that the describe this peculiar beast. So just a reminder don’t ever look into this dragons eyes and if you ever see this dragon up in the misty clouds call us asap at 0800 492 7812  . For a little bit more info this beast is predicted to be called the Red Knight Rider. Thank you and have a good evening, , we hope you tune in tomorrow on channel 3 live for some more news about the Red Knight Dragon.

The Inner Solar System

28 Aug 2014 11:12:48.jpg
The Inner Solar System:

In this article, it tells us about things I didn’t even know about. Like different types of gases, sizes and the approximate time it takes for a planet to orbit the sun. It takes 365 days for Earth to orbit the sun and it takes Venus 224 days to orbit. I also learnt that terrestrial is a fancy word for ‘rocky’. The sun is a big ball of of hydrogen powered by nuclear reactions. It takes about 8 minutes to warm Earth, ‘WOAH’.

Nets - Isosceles

22 Aug 2014 09:49:16.jpg
W.A.L.T: Making nets.

When I was making an equilateral triangle I had to know how to correctly use a compass and each side has to be equal. I made a square based pyramid -with  Isosceles triangles. I found this easy because I got the hang of using a compass and ruling off each side, but I also found this hard by constructing it together and making flaps. Next I would like to learn is how to construct a square.

Scale Drawings

8 Aug 2014 10:03:02.jpg
I learned to use scale to enlarge my drawing. I used a scale of 1cm to represent 4cm. This means that my drawing was 4 times bigger. The task was confusing because this was my first time enlarging a picture. I need more practice to perfect my drawings on this topic. Next I would like to learn the reduction of a picture.

Positioning Fractions on the Number Line

W.A.L.T: Position fractions on the number line.

In this game I needed to know how many pieces were on the number line, then I had to simplify the fraction. I found this game easy and difficult because I know how to turn fractions into equivalent fractions, but it became harder. Next I would like to learn more algebra.

Comparing Fractions

W.A.L.T: Compare fractions.

In this game I find this difficult. It involved multiples and fractions. My score in this game was moderate because I knew some of my fractions but, next time I am going to get an even higher score. Next I would like to learn more about algebra.

Math Games Convert Fractions to Decimals Fruit Shoot.png
W.A.L.T: Solve problems in multiplication and division that has decimals.

This game is about converting fractions into decimals. When I was playing this game I found it challenging because some of the numbers given to me were confusing. The easy part of this game was comparing fractions into decimals. My score was all right, but I’d prefer a higher score. To improve more higher in converting, I am going to take time off my television time and more on to my maths time. The next thing I would like to learn is Algebra.

Reflection - Basic Facts

14 May 2014 09:37:31.jpg

My score on Basic Facts, Stage 7 was 670.

In my test I did well at dividing, finding the power’s of and square roots. need to improve Lowest Common Multiples(LCM), and my prime numbers. To improve more on my Lowest Common Multiples is to go through them mentally and practice them daily, also to improve more on my prime numbers, I will learn them and then resite them to my older siblings. Im hoping in my Basic Facts assessment I will get 100% and make my teacher and family proud.

Helios the Sun God

In Room 12 for reading, Group 4 and 5 are studying myths and legends. We were told to choose a Myth or Legend and write some memoribillia to swap with a friend. My memoribillia is about the Sun God, Helios, below are some facts for Helios. I hope you enjoy.

Family of Helios

Helios is the sun god, his parents are Hyperion and Theia. They were the union of the celestial Titan. Helios had sisters and there names are Selene, the goddess of the moon, and Eos, the radiant rosy fingered goddess of the dawn. His first marriage was to his sister Selene, but overall he had many other wives.

Appearance of Helios

Helios was a glowing god with bright curls of hair. His piercing eyes gazed from underneath his golden helmet and he wore fine-spun garments. The Ancient Greeks interpreted Helios as a gigantic eye with a halo, observing that everything he touched shone like gold.

How Helios travelled

Helios travelled in a winged  golden bed, he was called the sun and was predicted to be the sun. Helios sees everything that happens every minute of the day.
